When you are a bit older and more mature, you might decide that it’s time to settle down. It is contrasted with the idea that when you are young, you might travel or try different things and be a bit wild. To settle down means to start living in a place where you intend to stay and perhaps raise a family.
When I was first training to be a teacher, my trainer used this as an example of an expression that is rooted in British culture and many, but not all cultures. The first phrase I want to talk about is in the first line. I’m not going to explain the meaning of the song, I think that with this vocabulary, the rest of the song is straightforward so if you listen to the song you will be able to understand it. The song was inspired by a broken relationship, and lyrically speaks of Adele's coming to terms with it. It is the second single and final track on the album. It was written by Adele and Dan Wilson for her second studio album, 21.
